THE WORLD IS A PLACE
Big Dreamer By Nature
When someone encourages us to dream big, it usually evokes emotions of both excitement and fear within us.
Excitement, because of the possibilities that await us. And fear, because of all the negative outcomes that we imagine for ourselves…
What if I fail? What if I embarrass myself? How will others look at me?
These are the types of questions we ask ourselves – the types of questions that paralyse us. That keep us in the safety zone.
But the truth is that it’s important to dream big – to only dream big. Because you are a big dreamer by nature. You are not mediocre. You are not here to play it safe.
…and here are some more reasons that will hopefully convince you to start dreaming bigger:
Setting the bar high
Let’s say you started an online business and you set yourself a goal to make $1000 a month by the end of your first year. And as the months go by you start seeing figures that are climbing towards that $1000, sometimes reaching it, and sometimes even surpassing it. Those results would make you feel pretty pleased with yourself, wouldn’t they?
Now imagine the goal was not $1000 per month by the end of the first year, but $10 000 per month by the end of the first year. How much more serious will you take it? How much more likely are you to start seeing figures that are significantly higher than $1000 per month? — to start seeing figures that are perhaps $2000 or $3000 per month? Well, if you were diligent with your work then it’s very likely you’ll see those higher numbers. I’m sure you agree.
And yes, sure, you may not reach your target of $10 000. That’s fine. But you’ll still be doing a whole lot better than if your goal was only $1000 per month.
That’s what Norman Vincent Peale, the father of positive thinking, says with the following quote…
“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss it you will land among the stars”
Excitement
When you dream big it excites you and your energy level goes up.
Putting skin in the game moves you away from complacency and towards action. It makes you feel more alive.
Become more persistent
Big dreams are big commitments – in a way it’s like having a child. And so, when you decide to dream big about something that you want in life, you will be much more determined to follow through.
Value your resources
Regardless of whether your big dream is to be a serial entrepreneur, or to be an artist that lives a simple life outside of the city, dreaming big requires you to become very conscious of your most valuable resources: time, money and energy. And the more mindful you are about your resources, the more efficiently you’ll manage them.
So instead of wasting your resources on frivolous shopping trips or hanging out with friends and chatting about the latest binge-watched series, you’ll start noticing that you want to focus more on activities that get you ahead in life. That move you towards your dream.
Move past your fears
When you make the decision to follow your dreams, you give yourself the opportunity to move past fear once and for all.
You break the chains that have been holding you back all of the years. You liberate yourself.
To conclude…
Perhaps what’s holding you back from your dreams is your belief that money is evil. But money can be used for good or bad. It all depends what’s in your heart.
Or perhaps your dream does not involve having all the riches, but still you think it will be selfish to be so intensely focused on yourself. But the opposite is true. Because when you dream big and push yourself out of your comfort zone – you become the best version of yourself.
And that means that you can do so much more good in the world.
